Labor calls on the Turnbull Government to come clean and explain its support for Aerocare’s below award working conditions - which were yesterday overturned by the Fair Work Commission (FWC).

The proposed Aerocare enterprise agreement was rejected by the FWC following a challenge from the Transport Workers Union (TWU) for not meeting the Better Off Overall Test (BOOT).

This is the same agreement that the Minister for Employment Michaelia Cash defended in June, while also accusing the TWU of a smear campaign against the company.

“It is disappointing to see a union which didn’t get its way in a dispute with an employer then resorting to inaccurate smears to try and damage the employer’s reputation,” Senator Cash said.

When it comes to criticising unions and their workers over corporations, the Turnbull Government knows no bounds – it’s in their DNA.

This is the Party that abolished any fairness test, leaving Labor to introduce the BOOT test.

This is the Party that wants to cut penalty rates for Australia’s lowest paid while also raising taxes for over 7 million workers..

Australian workers know that while Labor is committed to protecting workers’ wages and strengthening their bargaining position, the Turnbull Government is more interested in attacking workers and their representatives.

The Turnbull Government can't fool the Australian people that he supports anything other than big business.

We'll Put People First.
